July - October

South Fork of Snake River

The South Fork of the Snake River is one of America’s legendary fisheries. Just under two hours from Jemas Ranch, this 66-mile scenic stretch begins in Idaho below Palisades Dam. You’ll float down the clear, winding river with one of our experienced guides, past valleys, canyons, farmland, and the largest cottonwood tree forest in the U.S.

Known for Cutthroat trout, this Blue Ribbon river has up to 4,000+ fish per mile. Spring, Summer & Fall seasons are great fishing, but the best dry fly fishing time is July – October with huge stonefly hatches in the first part of July. It’s the time of Salmon Fly hatches, the largest Stone Fly, which get up to an incredible 3” long. You’ll fish Cutthroat, Brown and Rainbow trout and you’re sure to encounter wildlife, from moose to bear to mountain goats to beavers. More than 100 species of birds live here, including bald eagles you’ll spy perched in the Cottonwood trees.

If you’ve fished Snake River and haven’t yet visited the South Fork, you’re in for beautiful views and trophy-size trout!
