About Jemas Ranch

The Jemas Ranch property is steeped in Wyoming tradition. The ranch has been a productive cattle ranch since the turn of the century, with deeded water rights dating back to the 1800s . When Jeff and Michelle purchased the property, it was with the vision to bring balance to this amazing piece of property. For them, it was imperative to continue the important Wyoming tradition of cattle ranching, while reclaiming the land’s biodiversity. This has meant enhancing its viability for a trout and wildlife habitat, transforming it into a true Wyoming jewel.

The Jemas Ranch project was born out of a love of family and a love of fly fishing. Today, we thoroughly and carefully plan every step in coordination with federal and state agencies, evolving it into a tranquil retreat teeming with wildlife and natural beauty. The Ranch’s nearly 400 acres sits at an elevation of 7,500 feet along the Green River, surrounded by both the Wyoming Range to the west and the Wind River Range to the east. The sunrises and sunsets over the ranges just add to the majesty of this special place. The Ranch is Located in the small town of Daniel, Wyoming, about ten minutes from Pinedale and an hour outside Jackson Hole, and with a population of about 150 people. With the Jemas Ranch family, it’s now at 155.

We’ve replanted grasslands and are continuing work with Wyoming Fish and Game on stream restoration. The reclamation work done on the existing lakes, ponds and creeks has been a painstaking labor of love. For stream channel restoration, our efforts in dredging and rebuilding banks has resulted in a restored trout habitat that sparkles. We enhanced the natural beauty with lakes and ponds ranging from 12 acres down to 2 acres. As a result of our vision the fishing is fantastic on the property. We have Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Cutthroat, Brooke trout & Tiger trout.

To ensure an amazing experience for our guests, we located our private homes along meandering spring creeks and the lakes, where the views and access to fish and wildlife habitat would be optimized. We built luxury homes to stay in, not just rentable rooms or cabins. We thought about where we would want to stay and created it. There are several rehabilitated 100-year old homestead structures on the property, a large meeting and event barn, a separate bath house, communal fire pits, and plenty of space just to wander after a day on the water fishing.

Jeff caught his first trout on a fly at 11 years old. He has been fly-fishing for over 50 years. At 14 years old he held the Pennsylvania state record brook trout.  Having fly-fished all over the world throughout his life, it’s telling that he found himself in Wyoming with this special property.  The Jemas ranch owners are a fly fishing family and love being on The Green River or Snake River and then heading home to the waters and tranquility of Jemas Ranch.

We can’t wait for you to come fish with us.
