The Green River is one of America’s most beautiful rivers. In Daniel, we’re near the headwaters where it begins in the Wind River Range. Section 1 on the Wind River Reservation and the publicly accessible Section 2 are teeming with Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Cutthroat trout and Brook trout.
The river borders Jemas Ranch to the north, so we’ll head no further than just outside the ranch gates to deliver you an incredible day on this scenic trip.
The proximity to Jemas Ranch makes this one of our favorite rivers to fish. It’s less accessible to Wyoming tourists, which means less angler pressure. That also means the Rainbows and Browns here often exceed 20”.
This is one of Wyoming’s most productive trout streams, supporting 8,000-14,000 fish per mile! Fishing in the Spring, Summer & Fall often proves to be bountiful, with peak season being July – October. The hatches are prolific at that time, including mayfly and caddis.
The Green River flows through picturesque landscapes, with mountainous backdrops contrasted with sagebrush flats. Expect to see abundant wildlife along the banks, from moose to deer to eagles perched in the cottonwood trees.
“The Green River is one of those places that can get into your soul. It’s a relationship that can become part of who you are.”
