The crystal clear waters of the river flow along the Wyoming-Idaho border on the western side of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, passing majestic mountain ranges in the Star Valley, nicknamed “Little Switzerland.”

The Salt River is smaller compared to the Snake River, with only about 1/10th the volume of water flow. This creates a more intimate fishing environment and, in some places, more technical, which makes it great for all skill levels.

As a lesser known and lesser fished river, it’s often called Wyoming’s best kept secret. You’ll enjoy more solitude and have more chances to catch that trophy trout!

It’s one of America’s few rivers to have salt beds and salt springs and has historical significance as a source of salt for Native Americans, pioneers, traders and trappers. You’ll get to experience the stunning, unspoiled views just as they’ve been for hundreds of years.

The Salt River provides hatches galore starting in June, including PMDs, caddis, terrestrials, stoneflies and blue-winged olives.

Whether you're seeking the thrill of landing a trophy brown trout or looking for the serenity of casting dry flies on a summer evening, we can promise you an unforgettable fly fishing experience on the Salt River.
