Jemas Ranch is a 400-acre working cattle ranch in Daniel, Wyoming. Daniel is part of Sublette County in the Green River valley, about 3 hours south of Yellowstone National Park, about an hour south of Grand Teton National Park, Jackson and Jackson Hole. The majestic mountains of the Wind River Range fill the sky to the East and the green Bridger-Teton National Forest is our northern neighbor.
“The Green River is one of those places that can get into your soul. It’s a relationship that can become part of who you are.”
The Green River is one of America’s most beautiful rivers. In Daniel, we’re near the headwaters where it begins in the Wind River Range. Section 1 on the Wind River Reservation and the publicly accessible Section 2 are teeming with brown trout, rainbow trout and cutthroat. As a Wyoming tourist, it’s less accessible than other rivers, but as a Jemas Ranch guest, our proximity makes it an angler favorite. Read more about fly fishing the Green River here.
This is a blue ribbon river providing award winning dry fly fishing. In only minutes from the ranch you will be putting in on the New Fork River. This is a key advantage as the best experience happens early in the morning so access is much more enjoyable rather than having to get up at day break to drive an hour or two to get on early enough to have a great day. This river has some of the finest Green Drake and Grey Drake hatches you will ever see.
More accessible to Jackson Hole visitors is the famed Snake River, a centuries-old fly fishing destination. In fact, it may have been the birth of the sport in America. European explorers and trappers adopted the fishing techniques of the Shoshone and Bannock tribes they witnessed fishing the Snake River. Although more crowded than the Green River, the stunning beauty of the surrounding landscape keeps it perennially in the list of global top fly fishing destinations, along with The Green River.
